SQSAC Winter Scapa Flow Weekend - November 2009
A Dive on the SS Tabarka, A Dutch Steamship sunk as a Blockship in Burra Sound in 1940, she lies upside down in 16 metres of water and can only be dived on Slack due to the Strong Tides that flow through the Sound, the visibility on this wreck can be 30 metres and more.
Lying upside down you can enter the Hull and swim through a Cavern like interior, although the Midsection has collapsed it is making the Wreck easier to access, The Boilers and Engine Block which were suspended from the Ceiling are now lying on the seabed, a cracking Dive.
SQSAC 2009 Scapa Winter Weekend A Dive on the Barge.
YC21 was a Wooden Salvage Barge moored over the German WW2 Escort Destroyer the F2 in Gutter Sound when she foundered during a Storm in 1968.
Both Wrecks lie in 16 metres of water and are only 30 metres apart so normally one Dive to visit both are visited on one Dive. The Visibility wasnt too great and the water was very peaty coloured due to recent rain, but the fish life on both Wrecks were amazing
